Angiology (vascular diseases)

Angiology studies the diseases of the circulatory system and of the lymphatic system, i.e., arteries, veins and lymphatic vases, and its diseases. The field of vascular medicine (angiology) is the field that deals with preventing, diagnosing and treating vascular and blood vessel related diseases. The angiologist knows about the various ways of treating vessels that have undergone change. For example, he will remove varicose veins using a method known as 'stripping', deal with spider veins or remove blockages in blood vessels by means of a surgical intervention. In such cases he works with a vascular surgeon, a specialist in blood vessel surgery.
