Corneal cross-linking (CXL)

Corneal cross-linking with UV A light and riboflavin (Vit B2), also called CXL, is a surgical procedure that increases the biomechanical strength of the human cornea by inducing additional bonds (cross-links) within the cornea. CXL can arrest the progression of keratoconus in more than 90% of cases and is today seen as a standard of care in keratoconus treatment. Besides its use in keratoconus treatment, CXL is also effective in arresting ectasia after LASIK and PRK.
