Testicular cancer (carcinoma)

Testicular tumours often manifest as painless, rough, and irregular swelling of the testicles. In most cases, only one testicle is affected. There is often a difference in size between the two testicles. Testicular tumours mainly occur in men between 20 and 40 years.

Diagnostics

Diagnosis is made by testicular palpation, ultrasound examinations, or CT scans of the abdominal and thoracic cavity. In addition, substances such α-fetoprotein, β-HCG, and lactate dehydrogenase can be detected in the blood. This narrows down the type and aggressiveness of the tumour.
